Your Tasks

  • Identify opportunities and implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, electrical assembly and electrical schematics, quality control standards, product design, materials and parts.
  • Determine root causes of failures and recommend changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods while troubleshooting new and existing product problems.
  • Provide technical expertise or support related to manufacturing.
  • Incorporate new methods and processes to improve existing operations.
  • Work closely and communicate with technicians, technologists, analysts, administrative staff, production personnel and other engineers.
  • Review product designs for manufacturability and completeness.
  • Train production personnel in new or existing methods.
  • Document new manufacturing processes or engineering procedures.
  • Lead continuous improvement processes such as lean manufacturing to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, or cost-effectiveness.
  • Estimate costs, production times, and staffing requirements for new designs.
  • Inspect manufactured products in house and at vendor sites according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Design layout of equipment or workspaces to achieve maximum efficiency.
  • Design testing methods and test finished products or process capabilities to establish standards or validate process requirements.
  • Read current literature, talk with colleagues, participate in educational programs, attend meetings, attend workshops, or participate in professional organizations or conferences to keep abreast of developments in the field.
  • Prepare reports summarizing information or trends related to manufacturing performance.
  • Through knowledge of welding and the ability to train welding staff on new process and be able to qualify welders in new and existing processes.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS processes and procedures.  Specifically D1.1, D1.6 and D1.9.
  • Strong knowledge of WPS, WPQR, WTQR and NDE processes and procedures.
  • SAP or other ERP experience preferred.

Your Skills

  • Education : Bachelor's Degree (four year college or university)
  • Experience : Three to seven years related experience
  • Computer Skills : Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Certificates & Licenses: CWI certification is preferred
